in vain

On Sunday October 16th, 2011, around 4pm, we were northbound on Elston, and some dickhead decided to not only pass me on the right, but to use the bike lane to do so, sending me into a doubly righteous state. "Nice move, dick!" I said inside my car with bravery and wit. "Dick!" came the refrain from the back seat, and again: "Dick!" (Actually, it was more like "Dit!" since he has trouble with the /k/ sound, but we all knew what it meant.)

We don't have the cleanest mouths around, the wife and me, but we've definitely been talking about cutting back on the profanity for a while now. It's hard to just throw out a quarter of your working vocabulary overnight, though, so we settled on a plan of action (stopping cussing in front of the kid) with a very clear bright-line trigger (when he cussed in front of us). So that's that, plan underway.
